10 Fruits and berries

Discover 10 fruits and berries to enjoy anytime of day! The best part? Not only do these items provide vitamins, minerals, and fiber, they also contribute to a healthy weight loss journey!

1. Blueberries

Blueberries are one of nature’s creations—and it would be remiss not to mention that their vibrant blue is actually due to the way our earth has been molded over time. They contain vitamin A (which helps in proper eye health) water soluble b-carotene, calcium, folate, vitamin C and other minerals. In addition to being high in fat, blueberries are also rich in fibre and water soluble vitamins, which means that they help keep you feeling full for longer periods of time. Plus, blueberries help fight off the bacteria and viruses within the intestines. As we all know, bacteria and viruses can cause inflammation within our gut. By eating blueberries daily, you will be able to prevent this from happening. This is key to good digestion, so eat blueberry on a regular basis. Blueberries are a delicious fruit to make into cocktails, smoothies or even sprinkle on top of yogurt. Blueberries have also been used as food coloring in cooking. You can also sprinkle them into your salad. Blueberries are also a great ingredient to add if you want to spice up your food without making a huge dent in your budget. However, if you plan to use them as frosting for cakes and pies, there’s a chance that you might find yourself with too much blueberry in your dessert dish.

2. Watermelon

Watermelon’s texture and flavour make it an amazing choice when creating tasty recipes. It has a fruity taste with a slightly spicy note. If you’re looking for something refreshing and filling to get your fill, watermelon’d be the ideal addition to your winter menu. Like blueberries, this citrus fruit has vitamin A, water soluble folate, vitamin C, manganese and copper. Additionally, its low carb count prevents your tummy from getting hungry, allowing you to have more energy throughout the day.

3. Strawberry Jam

Strawberries are definitely our favorite fruit! Their tartness and crunchiness make them stand out amongst the rest. I wouldn’t say most people don’t enjoy a strawberry jam. But a lot of us tend to avoid using strawberries because of how sweet they are. Fortunately, there’s a new type of strawberry called raspberry jam that doesn’t go too sweet. Most of these raspberries come from either Europe or Asia. There are many different types of raspberries depending on how much sugar you put on them. Raspberry jam keeps everything perfectly balanced and you won’t feel like you’re missing any of the flavor.

Serve these juicy treats at the end of every meal.

4. Chocolate

This decadent chocolate is made by combining various ingredients such as cocoa, cocoa butter, salt and eggs. Then melting it all together to form a thick paste. Lastly, adding some vanilla extract which brings out the chocolate flavours. Some varieties are darker and have a chewy texture while others have a smoother consistency. When paired with strawberries, these pieces of fruit are bound to make you happy.

5. Pecans

While not technically a fruit per se, pecans are absolutely adorable animals. Being that they have nuts instead of fruit, this makes them less sweet but also much tastier. While most people love pecans and have plenty of options in which they could substitute for it, most aren’t aware of what actually makes them so delicious for food. Pecans are extremely versatile. They can be turned into snack, breadcrumbs, peanut butter or other things! Whether you choose to include them as raisins, cookies, candy, or anything else entirely, they’ll be perfect.

6. Apples

If you think apples haven’t made it in yet, get ready for an impressive surprise. Apples are one of the fastest food items to cook as well as one of the least expensive. This is mainly because they work hard to keep themselves properly stored and preserved. Because of this, they’ve become staples in kitchens across nearly every country. While apples are typically found in almost every supermarket, you can find them right here on Amazon for under $15. That’s pretty cool considering how quick apples usually are. One of the major issues apples have is that unlike most fruit, they’re fairly difficult to peel. However, once you get started, the process becomes really simple. Once you bite down on them, you’ll see why they work so well. Since apples need to stay in their shells for so long after being sliced, they are incredibly hard to find as fresh and as close-to-ripe as possible.

7. Pears

When it comes to pears, there really isn’t any kind of preference. They’re delicious to prepare for breakfast, as they’re naturally sweet and don’t fall apart easily. On top of this, they’re packed with nutrients, including phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are plant compounds that give fruit and vegetables their distinctive colour, taste, and texture. Phytonutrients are responsible for keeping fruit and vegetable skins soft, and preventing rot as well. They can boost your vitamin intake and help fight against common colds and flu. Also, pears contain lycopene, a pigment compound that gives red fruit and leafy greens their golden color.

8. Raspberries

Raspberries are one of my favourites. They actually grow more than anywhere else on Earth, which makes them incredibly hard to find at grocery stores. Luckily, you can find them for a lower price right on Amazon. As they mature, they’re going to lose their seeds, which essentially means that they’ll become sweeter and bigger. Therefore, the harder you try to source them, the pricier they’ll become. Eventually, making your own raspberries will be a breeze. Once you start harvesting these sweet gems, they’ll be ready to have a few pieces of themselves to serve up. Don’t you just hate having half a pear for dinner tonight? Make these raspberries and sprinkle them on spaghetti topped with extra sour cream and sprinkles on crackers while enjoying your night.

9. Bananas

You might be surprised that bananas are considered an edible fruit, if they do. Despite what you might expect, they’re not exactly easy to peel or store. This then makes them one of the most time consuming and labour intensive ways to create a healthy snack. Thankfully, there are tons of ways to remove them from the shell without stripping them of any valuable nutrients, like fiber, iron, protein, cholesterol, or sugar. All you need is to cut them open, scoop out all the insides and put them in a bowl. Add some rice syrup and mix it with water until the bananas are thoroughly blended with the starch. After that, pour the mixture into the banana skin and leave it out overnight. Next morning, slice up the rind and peel the fruit.

10. Radishes

Radishes are one of those products that seems everywhere, but sometimes you just need to remind people to check it first before opening anything. This small spicier radish is a unique product that happens to be rather inexpensive to make even after taking care of the previous foods. Even though they are small, they’re sure to turn heads. The exterior has yellowish skin when whole but once peeled, when you look closely, you’ll notice the white flesh underneath it. Usually, what people call this meat would be called mashed potatoes. However, radishes can be easily cooked in a slow cooker or pot. So, if you’ve ever tried to recreate the same recipe but ran into trouble, skip the casserole and whip up a bunch of radishes instead. Use chopped onions, garlic, and herbs to transform this into your latest comfort dish.
